V této zakázce na téma „Rodinný krb“ jsem se rozhodl opustit doslovné zobrazení ohně a nahradit jej hlubší symbolikou. Krb zde není fyzickým prvkem, ale stává se gestem – dlaněmi dospělého člověka, které vyzařují teplo, ochranu a vnitřní jistotu. Ruce, z nichž vychází světlo ozařující tvář chlapce, vycházejí z mých vlastních dlaní. Tento osobní otisk vnáší do díla intimitu, která je dále umocněna černým pozadím v duchu barokního šerosvitu. Ten zároveň propojuje obraz s mou předchozí malbou Naděje, jež již našla svého sběratele. Kompozici uzavírá můj charakteristický rám, modelovaný přímo na plátně jako jeho přirozená a nedílná součást.
