The lack of clarity, which forces them to rely on the supremely fluctuating guide—public opinion.” (Seneca, Letters to Lucilius, 95.57b-58a) In his essay on peace, Seneca uses the Greek word euthymia, which he defines as the belief in oneself and in the fact that one is on the right path, so that one is not subject to doubts that would force one to walk in the tangle of tracks left by people going in all sorts of directions. It is a state of mind that induces peace.
