Between Dream and Wakefulness Somewhere between a dream and waking I search for a clear explanation why, upon the morning’s rise, I feel this strange sense of separation. I don’t want to move just yet, don’t want to surrender sleep my dreamy castle where I am the queen, but at the touch of dawn it melts away, and I must leave its crumbling walls. I don’t want to open my eyes, I want to linger just a while outside my body, while it already longs to stretch and stir— yet I still wish to reach beyond the veil of the dreaming world, so that the final line of that story might finish, or at least hint to me how this tale will end. I know I should rise from bed feeling a tingling through my limbs, and boldly open up my eyes to live my dreamlike reality here, within my waking body.
